Parent Involvement and Training
We all agree “there’s no place like home” but when your child’s physical and behavioral health requires, they receive intensive, inpatient treatment services, we are here for you both, providing a warm, caring, family like atmosphere. Camp Worth is committed to maintaining parent communication and involvement throughout your child’s stay. We offer and encourage parent involvement and training to support the successful transition of your child back into their natural, home environment.
Medication Therapy Management (MTM)
Medications are often used to treat symptoms associated with autism spectrum disorders along with behavior management therapies and counseling. Medication Therapy Management – or MTM is a treatment system used by doctors and pharmacists to ensure that patients are receiving optimal therapeutic outcomes for the prescription medications that they may be taking. Through the systematic process of patient-specific data collection our team of medical and behavioral health professionals assess the efficacy and therapeutic benefit of current and proposed medication therapies. We review your child’s medical history and the medications currently and previously taken. One type of patient-specific data we utilize are patient specific results from pharmacogenomics testing, the study of genetic variations that influence an individual’s response to drugs. Results from your child’s pharmacogenomic testing (a simple mouth swab) showing which medications are most compatible for your child is used to help in developing their individualized plan of care. With the continued collaboration of our medical and behavioral health professionals, careful monitoring and continuous discussion, we can identify the right medication and treatment plan for your child.
Education
Children with autism often struggle to reach social and academic goals. Camp Worth’s team of clinicians includes certified special education teachers and care coordinators trained in best practices in how to support the education needs of children with autism. We believe each child has the ability and potential to learn, it is simply up to us to find the right key to unlocking their potential. In providing a positive and accepting environment we instill enthusiasm and motivation, encouraging our clients to excel, celebrating each and every victory they accomplish.
Food and Nutrition
Children with autism are often picky eaters and we recognize that there are many reasons as to why a child with autism may avoid eating specific foods. Medical conditions diagnosed or unknown, sensory issues regarding texture and taste or discomfort experienced after eating specific foods can often impact the choice of foods they will eat. Whether its sensitivities to taste and texture or unidentified health conditions like eosinophilic esophagitis, we understand there are many reasons why they may prefer certain foods or avoid others. At Camp Worth our goal is to offer healthy meal options that provide the nutrients that growing adolescents need. Our meals can be tailored to meet your child’s specific dietary requirements, including allergy free meal plans.
